Freon Leak Repair and Refrigerant Recharge in South Florida
Refrigerant doesn't get used up. If a system is low, it has leaked. We locate the leak, repair it and recharge to the correct specification, so the fix lasts longer than a top-off would.

"Freon" is the common name for a family of refrigerants that move heat out of your refrigerator, freezer, wine cooler, ice maker or marine refrigeration system. In a sealed system, the refrigerant circulates in a closed loop. A loss of cooling usually means there's a leak somewhere in that loop, or the compressor that drives it is wearing out.
This is where our specialty is. Handling refrigerant takes proper equipment, the right refrigerant for each system, and, under federal law, technicians who hold the required EPA Section 608 certification. Our technician is EPA Section 608 certified. We keep the work focused on finding the cause rather than selling you a recharge you will need again next month.
Signs of a refrigerant leak or sealed-system problem
- Weak or no cooling although the compressor and fans run
- Oily residue around fittings, coils or the compressor
- Hissing or bubbling sounds near the evaporator
- Corrosion or green residue on fittings and coil surfaces, common near salt water
- A compressor that overheats, clicks off repeatedly or won't start
- A system that cools for a few weeks after a recharge and then fails again
Compressor repair and replacement
The compressor is the heart of the sealed system. When it fails, symptoms range from a unit that hums but never cools to one that trips the breaker or runs hot. We test the compressor and its start components before recommending replacement, because a cheap relay or capacitor can sometimes be the real culprit.
Where replacement is justified, we explain the cost against the value of the appliance so you can make a sound decision.
Sealed-system repair
The sealed system includes the compressor, condenser, evaporator, drier and metering device. Repairs here require brazing, evacuation and a precise refrigerant charge, not a quick fix with household tools.
Modern appliances use a range of refrigerants, including R-134a and flammable R-600a (isobutane) in many refrigerators. Each requires its own procedures and safety precautions, one more reason not to attempt this work yourself.
Refrigerant leaks on boats and commercial systems
Marine and commercial systems lose refrigerant the same way household ones do, through fittings, line connections, vibration and corroded coils. Salt air makes leaks more likely on boats, and heavy daily use makes them more likely in commercial kitchens and shops.
We locate the leak, repair it and recharge, and our technician holds EPA Section 608 certification for refrigerant handling. Larger commercial systems can come with federal leak-repair and recordkeeping rules, so it pays to use a certified, refrigerant-focused technician.
Our leak repair and recharge process
Verify the symptoms
We confirm that cooling loss is really a refrigerant issue and not a fan, defrost or control fault, so you don't pay for the wrong repair.
Locate the leak
Electronic leak detection, dye and pressure testing help find the source, whether that's a corroded coil, a fitting or a damaged line.
Repair the leak
The leaking component is repaired or replaced. Simply adding refrigerant without fixing the leak is a short-term patch.
Evacuate and recharge
The system is evacuated to remove air and moisture, then charged to the manufacturer's specification with the correct refrigerant.

Frequently asked questions
Does a refrigerator need Freon recharged regularly?
No. A sealed system should hold its charge for the life of the appliance. If it is low, there is a leak, and recharging without repairing it only delays the problem.
What is the difference between Freon and refrigerant?
Freon was originally a brand name that became shorthand for refrigerants such as R-22 and R-134a. Today, different appliances use different refrigerants, and the correct one must be used for each system.
Is it safe to add refrigerant myself?
We don't recommend it. Federal rules restrict the purchase and handling of most refrigerants to certified technicians, overcharging can damage a system, and some modern refrigerants are flammable.
How do I know if the compressor or the leak is the problem?
Both can cause the same symptom: poor cooling. A technician uses gauges, temperature readings and electrical tests to separate a leak from a compressor fault before recommending a repair.
Is same-day freon & refrigerant leak repair available?
Same-day service is available. Call as early as you can and tell us what the appliance is doing, and we will let you know what is possible that day. Availability depends on our schedule and your location, and we do not promise a specific arrival window in advance.
Is there a warranty on freon & refrigerant leak repair?
Yes. Repairs come with a warranty starting at six months. Ask us about the details for your repair when we discuss the work and the cost before we start.
